Sobre Nosotros

Welcome to our very first and very own multicultural newspaper at the High School of American Studies at Lehman College!!! Over the years, the Spanish Honor Society and its members have discussed the possibility of highlighting the diverse backgrounds and distinct experiences of its members in a creative, informative and fun manner. After countless conversations, some started over a decade ago with former alumni and Spanish-aficionado Zach Okin, our multicultural news outlet has finally gotten underway! Under the brilliant leadership of the Spanish Department, our little project has taken off and we encourage everyone to partake in sharing their experiences with HSAS and the world.

Our mission at El Perspicaz (The Insightful) is to feature news pieces that accentuate the rich and unique cultural experiences and heritages of our student body through insightful and responsive means. Students can further share and showcase through multimodal, multilingual and multicultural videos, pictures, original writings and more, the cultural celebrations and traditions that are discussed in and outside of our one hallway. These may be singular learning experiences that talk to each and every single one of us all at an individual level, but that connect with us at as part of the human experience at large. Ultimately, our goal is to help us continue the conversations that started in the classroom and see through genuine interactions how these playout within our communities on a daily basis. This will allow us to further appreciate and advance our understanding of one another and rejoice in our differences. El Perspicaz will allow us to gain insightful information about one another by fostering a more accepting, united and celebratory community of friends, learners and teachers.

If you wish to contribute an article, a video idea and more to El Perspicaz, talk to Kuang Wang and members of the Spanish Club (freshmen) and the Spanish Honor Society (upper-classman). We are excited to see what we can learn from one another when we work toward a common learning goal!

Sincerely yours,

Sra. Genao
